0:06.0	Some backstory, my fiancée Annie and I have known each other since we were children, and began dating junior year of high school.
0:13.0	After high school, we both went to our state school and I asked her to marry me junior year of undergrad.

0:23.6	When the application process began, I applied to a good mix of MD and DO schools of varying degrees of
0:29.9	selectivity, though all med schools are insanely selective. I had initially planned on continuing my
0:35.9	education at my state institution because I didn't want to take on too much debt.
0:41.0	I did end up getting into my state school's med school, but I was also unexpectedly offered a spot at one of the best med schools in the country, like the top three in New England.
0:50.9	My girlfriend and I are from the West Coast, by the way.

0:54.5	reject the offer had I also not qualified for a partial but still significant scholarship.
1:00.0	It would still cost me more out of pocket than my state school would, but not significantly so,
1:04.8	maybe a couple of thousand dollars more. Any, despite pleas from myself, our parents, professors, advisors, among others, only applied
1:13.6	to our state school and to some insanely selective, like top 10 MD schools, that she, to be blunt,
1:20.6	had no chance of getting into, given her admittedly mediocre grades and research experience.
1:26.8	She was rejected from all the schools she applied to,
1:29.7	including our state institution. Obviously, this crushed her, and I've tried my best to support her
1:35.0	during a difficult time, and to help her remain optimistic. Our situation now is this. I'm currently
1:41.8	enrolled at the aforementioned New England Medical School, while Annie has
1:45.9	decided to take a year off to strengthen her profile with research experience, physician shadowing,
1:51.1	among other things, and she's currently living with me. There were no jobs open related to her
1:55.9	undergrad major, which is political science, here or in our home state, none of which would be able to give her
