08:05 r/MaliciousCompliance - I found out some of my fellow science teachers lacked a sense of humor when they were about to be deprived of a token prize in a laboratory competition. Shamed at the time, our efforts were eventually recognized as worthy.

Hey, this is Dakota. And this is Keon, your favorite OK storetime host, and we've got some great

0:04.7

stories coming right up. But before that, we have a quick two-minute break from the sponsors

0:08.7

that keep the show alive. This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. My classmate said I should

0:16.6

only bring American food, so I gave her something American. Ooh, we're giving her barbecue,

0:22.0

burgers, hot dogs. The list can go on and on. This happened about a year ago now when I was in

0:27.0

high school. My calculus class was very chill. About 20 kids who were all friendly with each other

0:32.4

and laid back, but enthusiastic teacher. And a light enough workload that we could afford to goof off in class, but still learn and do well. By the way, this comes from deleted. And if you want to submit your own stories, go to the R.Slaash OK Storytime subredit. I'm Sophia. I'm Keon. And we're here to give good advice goofily, but we don't have all the answers. We only know what we'd do. So let us know what you would do in the comments. And OP says, at some point in the year, I got really into cooking. It's my stress reliever. My family couldn't possibly eat the amount of food I was making. So I started bringing it into school and hosting Friday parties in my Cal class with my teacher's approval, of course. Now, I'm Vietnamese,

1:11.9

and I live in a predominantly white town. This is only important because it meant that most

1:16.7

kids from town only ate American or European foods and weren't used to eating other ethnic foods.

1:23.4

Last year, around Lunar New Year, I wanted to bring in some Vietnamese foods to celebrate.

1:27.8

It's a very important time of year for my family, and I ended up making a bunch of bond-de-lon, a steamed layer cake, and a traditional Vietnamese dessert.

1:37.0

Some of my friends from class found out I was going to bring in a traditional dish and brought in their own traditional dishes from their own cultures.

1:45.0

We had different Indian, Korean, Filipino, and Spanish desserts. It was great and I was really

1:50.2

excited that my friends wanted to celebrate with me. Apparently, this was an issue for one

1:55.8

girl in my class. I would say bon dot lawn is an acquired taste, so when not a lot of people ate it, I wasn't offended.

2:03.8

I knew not everybody would like it. There was a lot of other food anyways. You don't have to eat it.

2:08.7

That's the fun thing. You don't have to eat it. It's like a buffet. Yeah. You can just choose to bring your

2:14.7

own food and not eat anything that anyone else made.

2:18.2

Sharing is caring and the fact that you brought in food and everyone's doing,

2:21.2

the fact that a lot of people are into this, good for you.

2:23.8

During our lunch period, one of my friends who wasn't in our class but knew I brought food in,

2:28.9

overheard a girl from my class complaining about the food while in the lunch line.
