When my brother-in-law went missing last year, the police were of little help. They told

us not to worry that it was far more difficult to disappear than it was made to look on TV

less probable than being struck by lightning. You are much more likely to be kidnapped

by someone you knew, and far more likely to still not be kidnapped at all. But, despite
