a big mistake that I made and that's okay because as entrepreneurs we have to be willing

to make mistakes. We have to be willing to test things and throw things against the wall

and see if they stick. Well this one did not stick and I want to share the details of

it with you because I think there's a lot of lessons to be learned. So let's do it.

Alright, yeah so this is about a promotion. So first of all there are a couple of rules

of thumbs as entrepreneurs that even though I've been doing this for 30 years I still sometimes

forget. And one of them is that as much as you feel like it's an advantage to give people

choices, people don't do well with choices. One or two choices yes. More than that absolutely

not. It's you know proven study after study when consumers are presented with too many

options they get decision fatigue and they have a very difficult time making any decision.

That's number one. And number two as Donald Miller always says when you confuse yellows

and I like to pride myself as being known for someone who can distill down complicated

ideas and make them pretty simple. Well recently I had this brilliant idea. Something

that's never been done before. Let's test this out like literally I have to tell you when

I came up with this idea I could already picture myself. This is so funny. Recording the

podcast to tell you about this brilliant idea and how you should do it too and how amazing

it was and that I was the first one to ever think of it and you know you should do it

too and aren't I brilliant. Well yeah it didn't go quite like that. In fact it's absolutely

the opposite and now I'm recording a podcast and tell you what I dumb idea this was don't
