Giving the location of something.

In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for giving the location of something.

For example, the car is in the parking lot.

The coach is in the stationamento.

The coach is in the parking lot. The coche is in the stationamento. The coche is ta in the stationamento.

The pattern for giving the location of something has four elements.

First comes a noun phrase, in this case the car.

The coche.

Second the verb to be, conjugated in the third person's singular form.

It's a preposition, in this case in.

And last a noun phrase, the parking lot.

El stationamiento.

Altogether we have, the car is in the parking lot.

The coach is in the stationament. The coach is in the stationament.

In Spanish, the subject, pronoun, noun,

noun phrase, or proper noun, is usually the first element of a sentence, followed by the verb. In this case, it's the verb to be, in its present indicative form. It is followed by a preposition and a noun or noun phrase.

So, remember that to give the location of something, just say a noun or noun phrase, plus the

verb to be, then a preposition plus another noun or noun phrase.

Here's another example meaning the computer is on the table.

First comes a noun phrase, in this case the computer.
