Hey everybody Rob mower here and today we have a quick update on yesterday's episode on the 100 kilowatt hour

0:12.2

potential packs for model 3 and

0:13.8

model Y, a new EPA range rating for the model S, some news on Tesla and

0:18.0

Panasonic's relationship, and on model Y. All right, so in yesterday's episode we spent quite a bit of time discussing a potential 100 kilowatt hour

0:26.2

model 3 based on some leaked images of a model 3 in factory mode. But Elon today replied to a Tesla Rotti

0:32.3

article on that subject, saying, quote,

0:34.8

no larger pack model three is in development, end quote, following that up with the second tweet saying,

0:40.3

quote, or why, end quote. So I still think yesterday's discussion was

0:44.4

interesting and worthwhile but at least for now it appears that Elon is

0:47.9

denying a possible 100 kilowatt hour pack for the model three if you want to look

0:52.2

really closely into it in

0:53.3

splice words technically there may be some loopholes here that could allow

0:56.6

Elon to wiggle around this he says no larger pack model three is in

1:01.0

development so perhaps the larger pack has already been developed, or when he says

1:05.9

a larger pack that could refer to physical size. We talked yesterday about how Elon had previously

1:10.7

said that physical size was a constraint on battery capacity for the

1:13.9

Model 3. So this statement doesn't technically rule out a more energy-dense battery in the same pack

1:18.6

size. And if we think about incentives, Elon is clearly incentivized to sell the vehicles that they are actually producing today and avoid cannibalization.

1:26.0

So in my opinion, this doesn't rule out a 100 kilowatt hour pack somewhere down the road,

1:30.5

and it doesn't necessarily rule out something happening relatively soon, but I think we should try to at least take it at face value and shelf any hopes of a 100 kilowatt hour pack for the three or the y anytime soon. If we don't I think this will end up

1:44.7

looking pretty reminiscent of everybody waiting for the interior refreshes which still

1:49.2

have not happened for the model S and model X. Another counterpoint that I should have brought up yesterday against a 100 kilowatt hour pack
