Hello listeners. I'm your host Amara and this is Black Girl Gone, I tell the story of Tasha Lampkin, a 30-year-old woman

who was murdered in Bossier City, Louisiana on April 23rd, 2005.

The day before she was found, Kasha had traveled from Houston to Louisiana to visit family with her cousin. After arriving, they checked into a motel.

And around 3.30 a.m. Kasha left to go get some food from a local restaurant.

But she never returned to the motel.

Two and a half hours after she was last seen,

the car she was driving was found engulfed in flames on the side of a road 20 minutes from the motel.

And inside the trunk, they found the badly burned body of Tasha Lampkin.

Once the investigation began, it didn't take detectives long to find out who did this and the

senseless reason why Tasha was murdered.

This is Tasha's story.

Statistically, people are murdered more often by people they know than a random stranger, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

The scary part is that anyone can be the victim of a violent crime, and women are particularly vulnerable and are often seen as easy targets.

Tasha Lampkin sadly became one of those victims and her story is a tragic tale of simply being at the wrong place at the wrong time

where she crossed path with pure evil. Tasha Lampkin was born on January 23rd, 1975 and grew up in Houston, Texas.

As a child, Tasha's family didn't have much, but she grew up surrounded by a loving extended family.

They described Tasha as a creative young lady who developed a love for sewing and so she taught herself

how to use a sewing machine and began making her own clothes. Her cousin said that she would cut up different clothes and fabrics and transform them.

When Tasha was in high school, she got pregnant and gave birth to a little boy.

And although she was a young mom,

her family said that her son was her whole world

and after he was born, she was determined to make sure that he had more in life than she had growing up.
