Moments ago, the committee unanimously voted to subpoena former President Trump for testimony about his conduct during and around the attack on the Capitol.

The motion was offered by the committee vice chair, Wyoming Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who was essentially run out of her party and office by the former president.

It's a big headline, but it's unlikely to result in the former president's sworn testimony.

The subpoena is set to expire at the end of this congressional term.

And enforcing a subpoena can sometimes take months or even years, especially one that comes from Congress.

In fact, the more pressing legal risks facing Mr. Trump likely stem from new revelations around the Department of Justice's investigation into the removal of

those highly sensitive documents that ended up, that may still be some of them at his estate

in Florida.

We're going to have much more on that aspect of the various investigations into Donald Trump

in a moment.

That said, today's hearing on Capitol Hill was not without its dramatic and at times historic moments,

including never-before-in-seeing footage of some top congressional lawmakers sheltering during

the attack on the Capitol.

The footage contained audio of Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Schumer, on the phone with governors,

the Secretary of Defense, the acting Attorney General, frankly doing what the President should have been doing while the Capitol was under siege.

Much of this footage apparently came courtesy of Speaker Pelosi's daughter, Alexander Pelosi, who was documenting things at that day at that time.
