Welcome to meet the press now. I'm Kristen Welker. As President Biden continues his trip through the Middle East, he's facing a pile on at home. More bad economic numbers and even worse polling numbers. But at the same time, Republicans are bracing for an unpopular figure of their own, former President Trump to retake the stage at perhaps the worst possible moment.

According to a new CNBC survey, President Biden's approval rating is down to 36 percent,

with just 30 percent of Americans approving of his handling of the economy.

Both numbers are all-time lows for this president and lower

than both Donald Trump and Barack Obama's all-time lows. Now, a separate poll from Pew puts

the president's approval rating at just 37 percent, a new low for his presidency there as well.

All of this comes as the Labor Department reported today that wholesale prices for U.S. goods shot up more than 11% last month over a year ago, just shy of the record set in March.

And that comes a day after the Labor Department reported the worst rise in inflation in 40 years, with prices climbing more than 9% over the last 12 months.
