Welcome to meet the press now. I'm Kristen Welker in Washington, where right now the new Republican

controlled House is ramping up its investigations into the Biden administration. In just a few

moments, we expect the chamber to vote on establishing a select committee to probe what Republicans

are calling the weaponization of the federal government. Now, the vote comes as the White House is facing new scrutiny after confirming that the

Justice Department is reviewing the discovery of a small number of documents with classified

markings found at an office used by Mr. Biden after his time as vice president.

Two sources familiar with the matter tell NBC News that fewer than a dozen documents with

classified markings were found.

Now, according to the special counsel to the president, the documents were found by the president's private attorneys in a locked closet days before the midterm elections.

Right now, there is a lot we do not know yet about the documents themselves and the White House's handling of the matter.

But Republicans on Capitol Hill have seized on the revelation, some using it to accuse the FBI

of a double standard after its search of Mar-a-Lago where former President Trump was improperly storing

hundreds of classified documents and highly secret documents.

Look, this just goes along with the narrative that a lot of people in America believe there's

a two-tier system of justice at the Department of Justice.

They believe that Donald Trump was treated differently than any other president.

And I'm not accusing Joe Biden of wrongdoing.
