0:00.0	conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed today and what appears to be a targeted act of political violence.
0:06.0	Kirk was of course CEO of the right-wing youth organization, Turning Point USA, and a close ally of Donald Trump's.
0:12.0	He was just 31 years old. He was a husband and a father of two young kids.
0:18.0	And this senseless act of political violence unfolded at a campus event at Utah Valley
0:22.1	University just north of Provo, Utah.
0:25.1	Kirk was about 20 minutes into speaking in front of a crowd of thousands at a campus event
0:30.0	when a single gunshot rang out.
0:32.5	The crowd immediately took cover, ran for safety.
0:35.3	You can see some of the footage there.
0:36.7	And while multiple videos have surfaced showing these shooting from several angles and what actually happened,
0:42.0	I'm not going to show it to you here because it is unbelievably graphic. Now within
0:46.6	hours, the president himself had announced Kirk's death. And then hours after that,
0:50.3	the governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, had this to say.

1:05.5	And I want to be very clear that this is a political assassination.

1:25.3	And we had an attempted assassination on a presidential candidate and former president of the United States.
