Getting this started on a Tuesday afternoon.

Ah, so nice to be home after a busy little stretch that included Watkins Glen, beautiful upstate New York,

for Imsa's sailing six hours of the Glen, then firing out of there was thinking I was going to

be out of there Saturday morning, ended up leaving Sunday morning, and flew out to good old

Mealy Waquet, then drove up, blasted up to good old Road America in Plymouth, Wisconsin.

Uh, yeah, got there, what, hour, hour and a half before the start?

Yeah, I don't know.

It was a weird one, y'all.

Like, I don't know if I've ever showed up this late to a motor race it feels

like it's maybe happened once before but legitimately i mean i was covering the thing remotely

on friday practice saturday as well practice and qualifying and did some sidebar stories and

blah blah blah but yeah to actually roll up and roll in like an hour and a half before the start

approximately, got in, dropped my little roller bag in the media center, turned right

around, didn't, I don't think I took much out, and then just walk straight to the paddock

and started saying hello and catching

up with folks and talking to a bunch of crew chiefs. Renato Laporte from Delcoigne racing,

knowing that it was crazy hot to get some thoughts from Renato about what he does to try and

stay cool, what he has his crew do on a day like that.

Drivers, more crew cheese up and down, talking with team owners and principals and mechanics and you name it.

And then got back to the media center with, I don't know, 10 minutes to go before the start and buckled in.

And we had a whale of a race, didn't we all?
