But the drought is about to end.

But in the meantime, I wanted to catch you up on one of our stories from last season.

So you might remember an episode that we reported from Martha's Vineyard about their pretty

gnarly Lyme disease problem.

We followed a scientist named Kevin Esfelt, who was pitching the vineyard on a pretty bold

solution to that problem.

He was going to fight Lyme disease by releasing thousands of genetically modified

lime-resistant mice onto their island.

And vineyard is, like, pretty into this idea.

Surprisingly.

And we should say if you have no idea what we're talking about, we're going to be

So first of all, I don't know if you've noticed, but ticks and Lyme disease are kind of having

a moment.

Some scientists predict this summer could be the worst tick season in years.
