And let's start with the conclusion to a trial that was 11 years in the making,

the potential last of several

trials, all the trials ending in five guilty verdicts of those who conspired and killed

law professor Dan Markell. Now let's figure out who Dan is, where and how he died, and then we'll

end with Dan's mother-in-law's trial that concluded last week.

Some would say the riddle of Dan Markell's death has finally been solved.

I'll let you decide if it's really over and if you believe that this is the end.

As I researched this case, one attribute about Dan kept surfacing again and again. He was called

brilliant, intelligent, smart, all the descriptors of a man who had a lot going on upstairs.

Dan was born in Montreal, Canada, but raised in Toronto. He came to America to study politics

and philosophy at Harvard, and that's a flex, right,

to say you graduated from Harvard? But Dan didn't just complete his undergrad there. He graduated

Magna Cum Laude and then went on to a fellowship in Israel, completed his master's at

Emmanuel College in Cambridge, and found himself back at Harvard in 2001, earning his law degree.

Dan then clerked in the Ninth Circuit. He also worked at a prestigious law firm in D.C.

And then finally found himself at Florida State University, the College of Law there, teaching

those grinding through their own law degrees.
