from an interfaith perspective anytime that Latter-day Saints and Evangelicals start discussing things, the conversation

tends to go towards grace and wondering, how are we saved? What role do works and grace play in that salvation?

So that's the eventual destination today.

To spend time with King Benjamin understanding salvation

and how it works, particularly understanding grace and works in that equation.

These are the three great things that resulted from King Benjamin's address.

Humility on the part of these hearers, righteous desires

welling up within them, and faith in Jesus Christ that those desires could be

realized through his grace.

In fact, now that I think of it,

how could my evangelical friend not love this already?

Throughout the history of revivalism, it tends to be a focus on our own sinfulness, a desire

to change, and trust that that change will only come through Jesus Christ.

This is the order. Once we have seen ourselves as less than the

dust of the earth, there's our humility, recognizing what we want to become instead, there's our righteous desires.

We throw ourselves at the feet of Jesus for his enabling grace.

That's our faith in him, to be able to bridge the gap between who we are

and who we want to become. So that's my biggest question. As we go back to

chapter two and chapter three, how does King Benjamin establish humility in his hearers?

How does he shift their desire towards true righteousness? And what does he teach them of Jesus to

center their faith in him? Let's find out.
