So the White House says plans are underway for a meeting between Ukrainian President

Vladimir Zelenskyy and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Press Secretary Caroline Levitt confirmed the plans yesterday.

I understand accommodations for that meeting are underway.

The president has spoken to both leaders about this, and both leaders have expressed a willingness

to sit down with each other.

The Kremlin, though, has refused to make any firm commitments, with Russia's foreign

minister Sergei Lavrov essentially saying they're not ready yet.

Step by step, gradually, starting from the expert level and then going through all the necessary stages in order to prepare for the summits.

Meanwhile, in a radio interview yesterday evening, President Donald Trump said he would prefer not to be part of the

meeting, and that it would be better if they met without him. The White House also confirmed
