Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Monday, July 7th.

Texas is bracing for more rain as the death toll from the weekend's devastating flooding rises to at least 82.

According to officials, at least 41 people are still missing.

The all-girls camp mystic says at least 27 campers and counselors died in the devastating floods

and said they're talking to authorities who continue to search for missing girls.

One volunteer who spoke to CNN described the challenges of searching for victims.

The trees are massive.

And so I'm just kind of digging under because obviously anything they've seen in trees

has already been recovered.

So we're all just helping dig under.

And they just kind of said look for fingers and just try to find something, somebody.

And survivors have described the extreme lengths they went to as they escaped floodwaters,

like a family of 33 who had to climb onto the roof of a hotel.

One of them spoke to CNN affiliate, KPRC.

It was very, very close call.

And have we been 10 or 15 minutes later, you know, it would have been too late.

The deadly flooding in Texas is yet another example of how devastating extreme weather events

are becoming more intense. Here's CNN's Brandon Miller breaking down how human-driven climate change

is making disasters like this more common.

That's right, Joe. There are a couple parts of the Texas flood disaster that we can note have the fingerprint of climate change all over them.

One is the amount of rain that fell in the short time that it fell in.

More than an entire summer's worth of rain fell in some spots in central Texas in just a few hours.
