Let's start with news of another EV getting better. And that is BMW. They have launched the I4M60. That's the most powerful electric saloon they've

made with 593 horsepower, adding 50 to the petrol-powered M4CS, but for a lot less money. I mean,

a lot less money. It starts at 70,000 pounds. That is about 95,000 US equivalent, and that is a lot of money.

It goes not to 62 or 100kpH in 3.7 seconds, which frankly is quick enough for anybody on the public roads.

That's 0.2 seconds faster than the outgoing I4M50 and about the same speed as the M4 CS. But like I say, it's 50 grand, cheaper than the combustion.

Equivalent. Top speed, they hold you back electronically at a mere 139 miles an hour.

Now, Adrian Paddnope for BMW blog wrote the BMW estimates that the updated I4 models with their new silicon carbide inverters save energy consumption of 4.5%. Depending on the variant, total range goes up by 22 kilometres or 14 miles on WLTP. The German configurator lists the E-Drive 35 with a range of up to 514

kilometers or 319 miles, depending on specs, and the E-Drive 40, a range of up to 613 kilometers or 381

miles. Again, WLTP take a chunk off for EPA, but still 381 is a decent number.

We'll depend on wheel sizes and specs, but that range is based on various configurations.

Production of the new I-4s start in July. Prices start at £51,000 in the UK. That's for the I4 e-drive 35.

From April, BMW started to offer an extended warranty of 100,000 miles or 160,000 Ks on their traction batteries, new or used, by the way, and guaranteeing 70% state of health on those.
