Summary

To mark the Coronation of King Charles III our presenter Adam Shaw gets exclusive access to the Royal Mint to witness how new £2 commemorative coins are produced and to see its extensive archives. In this programme, we discuss how different monarchs have affected our money and what the future might hold for the physical cash that we carry in our pockets. into their historic archives. Well, I have come to the Royal Mint. It was once based in the Tower

of London. Today it is now based near Ponticloon in Wales. I'm standing here right now. There's

some beautiful Welsh mountains surrounding me and here right in front of me is the Royal Mint. Just to describe what it looks like, it is a very imposing building. Lots of hard concrete. It looks very much like a bunker or an army barracks. There is a lot of barbed wire everywhere. And you might imagine why because behind these gates is a lot of money.
