Let's talk about a team that's just out of the Detroit Lions.

They are the lead block.

The Colts took a big swing on night one of the draft,

and they selected quarterback out of Florida,

Anthony Richardson with the fourth overall pick.

Jim Mersey had some takes on whether Anthony Richardson would be his week one starter.

Here we go. He says, follow this one along. Of course, it'll be Shane Steichen, his new head

coach's call on if he is going to be ready to start opening game. I mean, these guys got to

play to get better. Everyone knows that. You know, you hope it is hard for rookie quarterbacks, but he has a lot of raw ability. I have to imagine he play, I have to imagine he plays the whole season. It's going to be tough. It's going to be more difficult than easy. Put it that way. That is one way to put it. Jim Resey, our own Judy Battista, said Jim Resea told her the Coles would likely have selected Anthony Richardson first overall if they had had that pick and that he will start at some point this season. Yeah, it's kind of a tough quote to follow. Guys, what do we make of Mr. Ersay? I think kind of handcuffing, if you will, Anthony Richardson to starting week one in Indy. Yeah, ownership has spoken. For Shane Stichen, I mean, there goes your answer. What are you going to do at the quarterback position? Is Anthony Richardson going to start? Well, when the owner of the ball club says that this guy is going to play, play a lot this season, and he has to play to get better, you have to believe that is what's going to happen. And you've got to understand it to some point. Anthony Richardson started 13 games in college. He needs the reps to continue to improve.

No, he needs to be out there catching those live bullets. And I think for him, the comforting thing is Shane Stiking will be calling a place for him.
