Monday morning of Holy Week Jesus is returning from Bethany,

for he spent the night at the home of his friends, Martha, Mary, and Lazarus.

He returns to Jerusalem and as he passes by Bethphage, he felt hungry.

Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it and found nothing on it but leaves and he said to it may you

never bear fruit again and at that instant the fig tree withered and died, Jesus renders judgment upon the

fig tree and it dies because it was not bearing fruit. God expects us to bear fruit in our lives in two ways

by a life of virtue, holiness, and good example, but that is not enough, because that is not the full extent of the mission.
