Okay, let's do it. You always start with the top story. Today it's a quick update on the latest on

the Lahina fire in Maui. Some of the top headlines from the weekend. First off, the latest

numbers this morning. The death toll is currently at 96. That makes it the deadliest fire in

modern US history. The campfire in California in 2018 was the previous high. There are reportedly

4,500 people in need of shelter over their officials are urging tourists not to travel to Maui.

His hotels will now be focusing on taking in evacuees and first responders. The conversation

over the weekend seemed to shift from, you know, this is such a tragedy to how did this get so bad

and Hawaii's utility companies are facing some heat. Now, weather forecasters had apparently warned

a lion electric four days before the fire broke out and they did not shut down the power as

is typically what other states would do when faced with this sort of thing. As known as the

public power shut off plan and they didn't do that. Also, the state's emergency warning sirens were

not activated to alert residents. There's now a lot of scrutiny over how it was all handled.
