In 1995, Wired's executive editor Kevin Kelly confronted writer Kirkpatrick's sale about his book Rebels Against the Future.

Kelly, from Wired, was a techno-optimist,

believing that progress, emerging tech, hackers, and entrepreneurs

would solve all the world's ills.

Sale, the writer, was anti-technology,

to the point that he claimed humankind had been going downhill

since we started hunting large animals.
