Mohamed Maassaquoi is a former NFL wide receiver who played five seasons with the Browns, Jets and Jaguars. He was selected in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft by Cleveland. In 2017, Massaquoi had four fingers amputated on his left hand after injuring it on a trip with friends.

Man, let's go back first. Let's go back to your playing days. Let's start in college. Let's go back to Georgia. What made you choose Georgia? I know you probably had many different options out there to go to SEC teams in different states. But what was it about Georgia that made you choose them?

Georgia was the perfect fit. So I'm from North Carolina, Charlotte, to be exact. And during that time, the Carolina schools were all going through a transition. And, you know, if you think back, that was when ACC basketball was everything. Football wasn't a priority. And so everybody was trying to get to the SEC. And ironically, Georgia's about three and a half, or UGA is about

three and a half hours from Charlotte. So it wasn't a far drive. They had two receivers graduating,

so there would be a chance to compete for playing time. And just, you know, Coach Rick and his

staff, it just felt like home. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Yeah. And speaking of,

you know, being in Charlotte, that high school team

that you played for had many different stars that you play with. Like, who were some of the guys

that ended up in your class or, like, that you crossed past with that ended up playing other

places? I mean, you get, you know, Hakeem Nix, you get Chris Leak, you know, they anchored

the whole thing. And so we had a good run, man, 109 games in a row, seven straight championships. And so we like to say we were one of the best, you know, high school teams out there ever, you know, the guys from De LaSalle and some of the Florida teams make argument. but I like us.
