Hi everyone and welcome to this module all about maternity care teams.

In this module, we're going to talk about the roles, education, and training of the different

types of providers on maternity care teams.

We're going to compare and contrast the midwifery and medical models of care.

We're going to talk about principles of interprofessional education and provide examples

of interprofessional education and collaboration. We're going to talk about the big barriers to

teamwork. So we talk about maternity care teams as if we're all one big loving family, but the

truth is that there's a lot of sometimes conflict and strife between the different types of

providers. We're going to talk about the barriers that lead to this kind of conflict, and we're

talk about solutions. So by the end of this module, you'll be able to start brainstorming solutions to the overall

kind of macro problem of why it's so hard to get teamwork going.

And we'll also look at some micro solutions for your individual clients as they work their

way through an imperfect healthcare system.
