In 2018, he got involved in passive fix and flip investing, getting his feet wet in transactional real estate.   In December of 2019, he joined Jake and Gino and made the leap into multifamily. Working in Colorado Springs and Tucson, Arizona primarily, he has placed his efforts on building up networks and making offers on deals in those markets. In December of 2020, he closed on his first multifamily deal, a 24 unit in Tucson. After a few months of repositioning and getting a taste of what asset management is like, he and his teams are about to get back into acquisition mode and begin to scale up.

Welcome to the Movers and Shakers podcast.

My name is Gino Barbaro, co-founder of Jake and Gino, multifamily investor, educator, father,

0:18.5

mentor, and I'm joined by my co-host Joshua Ryan Ruzin, the community

0:21.9

director of Jake and Gino. Josh, how are you doing today, bro?

0:25.5

Gino, still riding on a high from a bi-right boot camp last weekend, man. It is so incredibly

0:31.3

horrible, getting like-minded people together, learning from the same system, and tools,

0:36.2

you know, some epic masterminding,

0:37.9

learning and really relationship building. So I'm still riding that wave. How about yourself,

0:42.5

my friend? I'm doing good. I didn't want to open up by sharing a little story, but I just have to

0:48.3

because it's just really important because I think the guest that's on has been part of Jake and

0:51.7

Gino for a while. And it took him a little while to get a deal. And I think one of the reasons why he got the deal was that accountability piece.

So I have a relative, Josh, and he's starting a new venture, and he's going out, and he's selling

1:06.8

real estate. And he gets a lead, and he says to himself, I really don't want to go.

1:12.4

I don't want to go to this lead. But the person who sent me the lead, I really value and treasure

1:17.7

him. So I'll go take that lead because I don't want to disappoint him. And it just struck me,

1:23.8

once again, that we're more willing to do things for other people than we are for ourselves.

1:28.7

I just sat there. I said, wow, that accountability is just amazing. Sometimes when you don't want

1:33.3

to call that broker, sometimes you don't want to underwrite that deal, sometimes you don't want

1:37.6

to do the property tour, sometimes when you just don't want to do that extra effort, but you have

1:42.5

somebody looking over your shoulder and saying, you know what, I'm here. And you'll do it for that person. It just moved me. And I said to myself,
