Welcome to the Rotoire prospect podcast.

I'm your host James Anderson, and we are live with the great Jim Callis.

0:16.1

And we do this show every year.

0:18.3

Jim is kind enough to give me some of his time and tell us about all these draft prospects.

0:24.6

And it's an interesting class this year, Jim.

0:28.3

MLB Pipeline has Ethan Holiday ranked number one in this class.

0:33.2

There's Eli Willits, Ava Arquette, Billy Carlson, and Jojo Parker are the other four hitters in the top 10,

0:39.9

but they're kind of in the five to ten range with Holiday at one. So my first question for you is,

0:45.0

is Ethan Holiday in a tier by himself among the position player prospects in this class? Or would you

0:51.8

include like a Willits or others with him in that top tier um

0:56.3

i think willets is kind of on the top tier as well sorry i have a camera problem there for second

1:02.7

will it's on top tier as well like nobody's really separate themselves in this class at all james

1:07.5

and that makes that's what makes it tough is it's not like last year or 2023, even though we do

1:13.6

have Ethan Holiday number one. And I like him a lot as a player. If Ethan Holiday was in

1:17.2

23, I don't think he goes in the top five picks. If he was in last year's draft, I don't think

1:23.0

he necessarily goes in the top seven picks. He and Willits are different types of players. I do think

1:29.9

it's them apart from everybody else, but again, not by a wide margin. With Holiday, it's more,

1:38.5

you know, that power ceiling. He's built like his dad, Matt, more than his brother Jackson,

1:43.3

hits left-handed unlike his dad.

1:45.5

But, you know, the type of guy that you could dream of 40 homers a year from Ethan Holiday.

1:49.2

Whereas Willits is more of that well-rounded player.

1:53.2

At the same stage of their careers, kind of similar to Anthony Volpe, but I think he's quicker than Anthony Volpe was at the time.
