Summary

Batted-ball interceptions, a missed FG, a ball in the dirt on a throwback that would almost certainly have scored, a bobbled ball in the back of the end zone, and many other single plays might've won it for Florida State, but the Seminoles just came up one play short in the road opener against Virginia. Sorry, I'm getting texts like crazy.

Oh, geez.

From the EPR creation studio, this is Doc Staples,

0:11.4

bringing you hot takes for the Unconquered with Doc Staples podcast.

0:16.9

After Florida State loses in second overtime,

0:19.7

on the road at Virginia, 46 to 38.

0:23.7

And, you know, it's going to be a pretty quick one, I think, for the hot takes.

0:28.2

I really am going to want to take a look at some of the all 22 in this.

0:30.8

But, yeah, I mean, I think we talked about in the pregame that this game was going to be a big barometer for this for this football team because this was a Virginia team that could absolutely beat them and it was a quarterback that you know as I said on the on the podcast in the in the preview that this defense had shown some weaknesses in the passing game in particular over the middle

0:56.7

and in some of the very areas that we talked in the pregame about where Chandler Morris was

1:02.6

really good and all of that held up. I mean, he did look like a kind of a poor man's Baker

1:08.9

Mayfield tonight. Now, three interceptions, you'll take that for the Florida State defense.

1:14.6

And, you know, those were key in keeping this team in it.

1:18.3

1:32.2

We did talk about how last outing against Kent State, they kind of allowed too much leakage

1:36.9

up front and they weren't quite as solid in their run fits and so on as they had been in the

1:42.7

prior two games, especially against Alabama,

1:44.7

where they played with great strain and physicality there. And for portions of this game,

1:50.0

1:55.3

211 yards, 4.4 yards per carry. We knew what they would get from Chandler Morris.
