Mielstein. Hello. How are you? Hi. If you were with us on the last podcast, we talked about the transfer of power or the mantle, the prophethood, prophet ship, prophethood. I'm not sure how you'd say that.

But the mantle of the prophet has passed from Elijah to Elisha, and now they're going to continue uh Elisha's going to continue to be very similar to

Elijah right. Oh yeah. The two great miracle working prophets. They do a lot of great things and they're

well known and I'd say they're well liked and I say they're well liked by some.

By some, not so much.

Other people, maybe not so much.

So we're still in Second Kings chapter two.

And we're going to go to the end of that chapter,

closely in that chapter in that chapter in verse 19.

This is just after Elijah has come across the waters. He has a little incident there with the captains of 50 strong men.

And there's an incident there.

And he sets those things to rights.

And then he comes to this part here.

We're going to go to verse 19.

And the men of the city said in Elijah,

behold, pray thee, the situation of the city said in Elijah behold that pray thee the situation of the city is

pleasant as my lord see it but the water is not and the ground is bearing so apparently they're

having a problem with the spring or something is sometimes they talk about springs going bitter

what does that mean when you read that the springs have gone bitter or something is happening

great question and in this case I mean I always thought of of it as the spring going bitter, but here, as you've just read that, it says it's not and the ground is barren. So that almost sounds like it's just stopped flowing, but maybe it's gone bitter. I don't know that. So the issue is Jericho is known for, it was called the city of palm trees even before this we've seen

that and judges and so on it's known it's down low and it's got good water and so because of this
