Hi friends. Welcome to Not So Mali Mormon podcast minisodes. Today I have an email about girls camp. So here we go. She writes, hey y'all, I've been listening to your podcast and I think

y'all are great. I recently listened to the episode about seminary and being in the youth program.

It reminded me of an experience I'd like to share with y'all. It might be a little long,

so sorry in advance, but I think it's worth sharing.

When I was 12, I went to my first year of girls' camp with my steak.

The way my steak did camp was each ward had their own cabin for all their girls and leaders.

There was a total of about 20 girls in our ward who were all in this cabin, and five of our ward leaders. The four beehives in my ward basically grew up together and we were best friends.

But when we got to camp, my friends started making mean comments to me, ignoring me, and spreading rumors about me to the other girls.

The first night of camp, after everyone went to bed,

I was in my top bunk trying to fall asleep when,

one by one, my friends crawled out of their beds and went into the bathroom.

They came back and covered my bed in toilet paper and taped a note on my bed,

which told me about how they thought I was an awful person and no one liked me.

It then told me how I should go ahead and kill myself because that would be best for everyone.

The whole time my friends did this to my bed, I laid their frozen, not knowing how to confront them about that.

Oh, I'm so sorry. They all then proceeded to crawl back into their beds, and one of my friends

stayed by my bed and tried to make up a lie about how some of the girls from another ward came into

our cabin and did this to my bed. After her telling me this, I told her

about how I saw her do the whole thing. She of course denied doing it, and she said she woke up

when these so-called other girls left our cabin. The next morning, I told my young woman's leader

about what happened and showed her the letter,

to which my leader told me about how this was just my friend's way of showing me they loved me.
