Hey Sam, my voice almost cracked there for some reason.

My voice sounds bad. It's cold season here in New York.

Yeah. How are you doing today Sam? Well I'm all right excited for this episode.

That's right.

Pull up a chair, friends, because this was, as you said Sam, a meaty episode and was about a meaty book,

which is just out November 14th, Jennifer Burns' big

biography of Milton Friedman. It's called Milton Friedman, the last conservative, it clocks in

right around 500 pages, so compared to the Jagger-Hoover bio of Beverly Gages, you know,

this is a comparatively lighter read, but for those who don't know Jennifer, I remember I was in

grad school, I think, when her first book came out which was on

Ein Rand it's called goddess of the market, Ein Rand the American Right. So this book

on Friedman of hers that's just out it's kind of a continuation of her

biographical explorations of the American Right and specifically

more libertarian figures on the right.

And of course she's a research fellow at the Hoover Institution where Friedman papers are, and an associate professor of history at

Stanford University, and as our listeners will soon hear, very generous and intelligent guest

who I was so impressed with just the synthesis and how much material
