The phrase the revelation means to unveil or uncover, and throughout the New Testament, this word is only used in an exclusively spiritual context that refers to divine disclosure. So you could say that

the book of Revelation is God's disclosure to the Church of the risen Christ, His kingdom,

and the things that must come to pass, which makes it easy to understand why the enemy has done everything that he can do to create confusion

surrounding it. If you look back at Revelation 1-1, it says this, the revelation of Jesus Christ

which God gave him to show his servants things which must shortly take place.

In other words, this disclosure or this unveiling of things

is God giving us the ability to look beyond the veil

of this natural world so that we can see what's taking place

in the spiritual realm and understand its impact on this earth. Now, if you remember, Revelation

119 says this, write therefore what you have seen, what is now, and what will take place later.

Notice that Jesus told John to write what he saw the things that are taking place now and the things that will take place later.

So essentially, if you're breaking down the book of Revelation, in the first three chapters, God is giving John a picture of the New Testament Church and the times that we're living in, but as we

step into Revelation 4, there's a prophetic shift from the present time or age to the future
