Mike Johnson, speaker Mike Johnson averted a government shutdown, but at what price, what price?

Once again he got a continuing resolution passed, but he did it through

something called suspension. He had to bypass the Powerful Rules Committee in the

House. He took it to the floor for a straight thumbs up or thumbs down vote. Now you need

two-thirds of the house for that to pass which means he had to work with

Democrats.

It passed.

Congressman Bob Good of Virginia

is the head of the Freedom Caucus,

the far right Freedom Caucus.

And I am told that before Mike Johnson brought it down to the

House for a vote, he begged Speaker Johnson to let the bill go through the powerful House Rules Committee so they could tack on the border bill, H.R. 2.

H.R. 2, the draconian border bill which would never pass in the Senate.

Supposedly, Chip Roy, also from the Freedom Caucus and Bob Good are at best disappointed with Speaker Mike Johnson.

At worst, they're ready to remove him.

So, Mike Johnson's days are numbered.

These are his end of days.

But I'm not sure how they're numbered. The house is now in

recess until the 29th. Not a bad job. They come back what a week ago, two weeks ago and now they get

another 10 days off and Republicans in the House have privately said we can't get rid of another speaker with the general election nine months away.

It would make it look like the GOP can't govern, which spoiler alert they can't.

Johnson doesn't evince the same vitriol that Kevin McCarthy did. He hasn't been around long enough
