All right, so reports are everywhere now that Carlos Beltran is the Mets new manager.

At the end of the season, if you had mentioned Beltran, it would have been the furthest thought,

I think, in a lot of people's mind. Even he said that he wouldn't be considered.

They patched up whatever needed to be patched up with ownership.

He became a candidate, as you know.

As it whittled down, the last couple of days,

we kept hearing that it was down to three guys,

and Beltran was one of them.

I think, it doesn't matter now.

I think that Perez and Bogor with the other two from what I've, that's

what I heard, but it doesn't matter now. That, you know, Perez's name was being mentioned a lot.

Then you heard Perez and Beltran the last day. And listen, the Met State tight lifts. I never heard anything. anything i never i gave up trying to find out

because every time i did they told me we're not we're not talking about it so i gave up i didn't

even i didn't even go asking anymore so uh listen i know that uh om and i wanted was very

much behind beltrans that i did know. But this was a Brody deal.

This was Brody bringing the manager to the owners.

The owners had long since, I guess, before in the first interview,

they patched up their differences with Beltron that had been, you know,

we know they were there. Those went away. He then became a serious candidate. And I gather he

interviewed very well, but he did with the Yankees. He was the second behind Boone for the job there.

It's a very interesting choice from a standpoint of the fact that Beltran,

it's hard to envision him dealing with the media because he was just the quietest of players.
