Just before 3 a.m. on September 23rd 2003 a police officer in a little town in Alaska

was driving down this old abandoned mining road when he happened to look over to the

side of the road and he saw something shiny poking out of this big gravel pit.

Now the officer was looking for something that was shiny and so he pulled over and walked over to

this pit and he looked down inside of it and sure enough at the bottom

was the thing he and his colleagues had been looking for for weeks. But as soon as

this officer began scrambling down into the pit to take a closer look at this thing he had found,

a gunshot rang out, then another, and another.

Clearly, someone was guarding this

police officer was running for his life screaming into his radio for backup.
