I'm Lou Dobbs with the Great America Midday Update for Saturday, December 23rd.

I hope you're in the Christmas spirit and I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.

My wife and I live on a farm near a small town and this Christmas we've seen more lights,

more displays on the homes of neighbors and the folks in town than ever before.

And we've lived here almost 40 years. It's pretty clear, many, if not most Americans are now doing

what they can to brighten their spirits and that of their neighbors, and it's wonderful

to see. Particularly because the country has gone through a lot over the past three

years. I think most of us are looking to the future this year and feel better, much better,

about the country's future and that of our families and friends, neighbors, and

fellow citizens. There's been a weakening, without a doubt. Americans are seeing clearly what

has happened to us, what has been done to us by the very people who have sworn

an oath to serve, to protect, to defend the nation and our way of life.

That awakening means we have a brighter future because we see clearly the threats arrayed against America, foreign and domestic.

So thanks to you, to those recently awakened to those who mean us harm, to those who serve this nation in uniform, and protect us all.
