In front of an audience of students at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media

Arts, where I'm very proud to teach part time.

My guest today is a Malaysian born actress who has been in the game for nearly 40 years.

She has been described by NPR as, quote, the leading lady of Hong Kong's action movies,

close quote, by GQ as quote, one of the most physically gifted actresses alive, close quote,

and by the Irish Times as quote, surely the greatest female action star in cinema history,

close quote.

Exactly 25 years ago, mainstream American audiences were introduced to her in the James

Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, in which she ushered in a new era of Bond girls who could kick

ass and take names themselves.

And over the years since, she too has shined in movies made all around the world, including

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Sunshine, The Lady, Crazy Rich Asians, and this year, everything

everywhere all at once, directed by the Daniels for A24, a breakout hit at the box office,

which has brought her the best reviews of her career and could and should bring her some

well deserved overdue awards attention later on in the season.

But today, what we are going to discuss is all the above and much more, and then we are

going to take your questions.
