Michelle Kwan (two-time Olympic medalist, a five-time World champion and a nine-time U.S. champion) one of the world’s greatest figure skaters, joins us from her home to talk about her childhood, what home life looked like and how having a positive support network was fundamental to her success.
She credits her dad’s advice as key to helping her stay focused on the sport and not get sucked into the multitude of negativities such as eating disorders and unhealthy body image, that it can come with.
She talks about her transition into a world off the skating rink, taking the same level of commitment and confidence into other impactful roles - being an ambassador for the Special Olympics, becoming a public diplomatic ambassador during President Barack Obama’s administration and now as Director of Surrogates for Vice President Joe Biden; sharing her experiences working on the campaign, representing American values and the importance of making our voices heard.
