All right and welcome back to I'm interested. I'm Mike Greenberg and I could not be more

delighted to have my guest with me this week and I'd like to tell the story of how this particular

interview was first born. So I will never forget it's the

NBA's opening night of two seasons ago and I like everyone else was sitting and watching TNT. They had the opening game.

And they were doing their pre-game show live from the site of wherever the game was.

I don't recall what city it was.

And they have their crew there, Charles Barclay and Shack and everybody else, and they bring

out Adam Silver and Michelle Roberts for an interview.

And I remember they were seated.

The set was quite small, and they were seated so close together that I'm convinced their

knees had to have been touching and I remember the two thoughts that I had

watching it my first thought was wow they

couldn't have gotten a bigger set and my second thought was boy are those great

optics for the NBA the notion that the person in charge of the business and the person in charge of the

players the two sides which we are so conditioned in sports today and

historically to view as being almost opponents of one another.

To see the two of them sitting there as amiably as they were, I thought was fascinating.

So from that moment forward, I have wanted to talk to

Michelle Roberts who is the executive director of the NBA Players Association

and this interview is taking place in her office on 6th Avenue on a swelteringly hot August day in New York City.
