Welcome to the Well, I'm Anson Mount.

You know, it's funny how when you move forward in life, nothing is ever really what you expected.

Like, you have all these visions of what the next stage is going to look like, and invariably,

it just looks

nothing like that. Sometimes it's actually better than you could have designed. Sometimes, of course,

it's disappointing. And then other times, well, it just seems like the universe is totally

indifferent to how you feel about the outcome. And this is all sort of compounded when you have to deal with something as crazy and weird as fame.

This one time in particular will always haunt me.

I'd shot this movie Crossroads.

Now, if you're thinking of the 1986 Ralph Machio vehicle, that is not the one.

If you're thinking about the 2002 Britney Spears movie, yes, that's the one, and you can go ahead and laugh.

All my friends did.

The film also starred Taryn Manning and Zoe Saldana, and I have to say, all three of those ladies were amazing.

Anyway, Paramount was about to launch the film, and MTV had requested an interview with me.

Now remember that I had to do laundry that day.

And right before I went out to get in the car they'd sent, I brought a big armload of clothes down to the basement of my building and put them in the washer.

So, I go outside and there, right in front of the building, is a stretch limousine longer than I've

ever seen in my life. And I remember hoping, I mean, just praying that someone I knew would come

walking along the sidewalk at that exact moment and see this happening. No one did. Anyway, I'm driven down to Times Square, shown around the offices of MTV, in the studio where

Carson Daily would host Total Request Live. Feeling old yet?

Well, everyone was really nice and complimentary about the movie, and the interview was a lot

of fun. But this whole time, my head is just spinning.
