To help me understand the case of two communiques, one from Washington and one from Mexico City, that do not

say the same thing about the cause of the enormous surge at the southern border.

Mary, a very good evening to you.

Two communique's, presumably there was a deal of coordination between the two, with the detail you have in your column that seems significant is that

the U.S. communic case says that a cause of the heavy migration is democratic decline in the hemisphere in Central America throughout

the Americas. The Mexican version does not say that and that is a puzzle. Why so Mary? How did this come about? Good evening to you.

Well good evening, John. It's funny that you say to communicate because actually when you know they had this meeting together and there should be a single

communique and what happens is each country puts up the communique out of the

the meeting and and the communiques match.

But in fact, the U.S. put one up at the White House in English and Mexico put another copy

of the same agreement or the same announcement, the Communicate, on its government website

in Spanish and several people who follow both countries closely noticed that they did not match.

And in the English language version that the White House posted, it named Democratic decline as one of the root causes of migration.

And as I said in my column, Venezuela and Cuba are two of the largest senders of migrants during this whole crisis.

I think Venezuela is the largest country of origin for the migrants and Cuba is close

behind Cuba being much smaller.

So the Mexican version in Spanish omitted the words democratic decline
