the concerning performance by Clay Holmes, and really what was just a messy, disgusting

Wednesday afternoon lost to San Diego that puts the cap on what was a dreadful three-game series.

That's the bad news.

The good news is, thank you Chicago White Sox,

and thank you David Stearns, because I did not think that David Stearns' trade deadline,

which is still not over, but we are recording this on the eve of the trade deadline,

and the Mets have made two significant moves on Wednesday,

July 30th. I did not think that David Stearns would do this. I didn't. I thought that they would

add bullpen arms. Like if you told me, they're going to add three bullpen arms, two righties,

and a lefty, which is what they have done. I would not be surprised,

but I really assumed it was going to be of the lottery ticket variety. And while I could

certainly argue that Gregory Soto, based on the ups and downs of his career, qualifies as a lottery

ticket, Tyler Rogers is not, and Ryan Helsley is not.

And Ryan Helsley is a guy we talked about as far back as the offseason as a target knowing

St. Louis wasn't going to take winning very seriously in 2025.

So this is not a new name to the Rico Bronia, Ryan Helsley.
