The other day, you and I had a little bit of a debate around something Ron Darling said about Nolan McLean,

that it looked like Nolan McLean had said, my bad, to Byron Buxton, who he then referred to in the post game as Bucks, on a pitch that was up and in.

They did play together for at the WBC.

They were teammates.

And Ron Darling made a very valid point that you can't do that.

Like you're almost giving something away if you're saying my bad to a hitter because you came up and in.

Well, yesterday on the Met broadcast, Steve Gelbs dove into it further and asked Nolan McLean about it.

And now we have a completely different story.

Take a listen. Now I spoke to McLean about that, and he said that he actually wasn't apologizing to Buxton. He was apologizing to his catcher, Francisco Alvarez, who had called for a backdoor sinker, and he said, I missed that pitch by about five to seven feet. Now, that's not to say that Buxton knew that that's what was happening, so maybe it had the same result anyway. Here's what kills me. Yeah. Off air! That's exactly what we speculated, or Evan's speculated. Off air. I didn't do it on air, so I get no credit. But off air after you and I had this discussion for 10 minutes, and I was critical of McLean. I agreed with Ron Darling. On air, conversation. On air. Off air. I shut the mic off. I'm like, you know what, Teague? Isn't it possible when McLean was saying my bad to Alvarez? Yeah, because Alvarez was surprised by the high and inside. Right. His glove was down here and he had to throw it up really quickly to snatch it and he was like my bad

darling because ron said it right after ron said my bad like he misinterpreted it but you can

understand why you don't know sometimes when you see a player saying something on the field

you don't exactly know the answer or what they what they're meaning by by it. So that means now that we're revisiting this, then I was correct. On the intent of the two one pitch, not the three one pitch that you hit over the fence. Yeah. No, no, no, no. I was correct on the three one pitch. He wasn't throwing it away from Byron Buxton because he almost hit him. Right. He was throwing it away from him because he just threw a bad pitch. Correct. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah, you get a victory in this whole thing. All I know is we all got losses because McLean gave up a home run. That's a good point. Turn the game around. But nevertheless, at least for the next few hours, all is right in Met's World because they did win a game.

And today, tonight, they're going to try to do something wild. They're going to try to win two in a row. What's the last time they went back to back? Well, you've got to go back to the San Francisco series. And they're going to try to do it without Francisco Lindor. There's still no word yet on his MRI. based on the timetable we got with Juan Soto, I would expect we're going to hear about it later today.

So probably late in the Carton Show with Big Mac or maybe with Tommy later today after the Yankee Red Sock game. We'll get word on Francisco Lindor, but it doesn't feel good.
