Hi guys, so for this week's For The Good of the Order, I have a really specific thought

about why it's reasonable and not foolish to have hope even in moments like this.

There is this sense that hope is foolish and that the messages of hope are kind of

polyanna.

There are people out there who would say it's unwarranted and absurd, so I like you have

been thinking about big Harry problems like how on earth to protect democracy and then

of course how to mitigate against climate change, which we're still not really nailing.

And then I was going to sleep and I looked over on my bedside table and I had put my glasses

down on an old copy of a New Yorker from October 2021 in which there was this article

about nuclear fusion.

So I know you didn't wake up today thinking, boy, I hope it talks about nuclear fusion on

For The Good of the Order.

And I'm not.

I'm really using this as an example of why it is reasonable and even intelligent and logical

to hope for change and to let that hope inspire action.
