I've come to appreciate Michael's war stories, but he tells them now and again,

and there's never a timeline.

So I thought in this memorial, they we'd remember Michael's service

and all the colleagues he served with in Europe.

And now we move to the war on terror that started as the Gulf War

in 90 and 91 against Saddam Hussein.

And then turned into a general chaos that we now look back 30 years later and go,

did we know this was going to happen to us?

Retreat from Afghanistan, retreat from Iraq before that.
