Canadian Mexican Youtuber Twitter Maverick and heterodox women's rights firebrand Megan Murphy.

Though the word guest isn't quite accurate here since technically the audio you're going to hear

originates with Megan interviewing me on her

podcast which is called the same drugs and no I'm actually not sure why your

podcast is named that. Anyway Megan and I go way back to the mid-2010s when both of us were

starry-eyed Canadian writers in a state of what might be called ideological

transition. Megan was a Vancouver-based essayist who was trying not to get sucked down into the purity

spiral of progressive Canadian identity politics.

Meanwhile, I was an editor at a Progressive Toronto magazine magazine engaged in an analogous kind of struggle.

And after a year or two of this, we both ended up achieving escape velocity from the gravity

well of Canadian political orthodoxy.

Megan in particular gained fame in 2018 for getting thrown off Twitter,

temporarily as it later turned out,

before rejecting the idea that trans women are actually women as opposed to men with

gender dysphoria. Or put another way she's a major so-called turf that is a trans exclusionary
