Meet the Press is the longest running show in television history, period.

It was created by Martha Roundtree and Lawrence Spiveak as a radio show.

Believe it or not, Meet the Press moved to broadcast television on November 6, 1947.

Our very first guest was James Farley.

Now Farley was the quintessential Washington newsmaker at that time.

He was FDR's basically chief political advisor.

He was the campaign manager.

And also the postmaster general during the New Deal because you were head of the post

office.

You could put your political allies all over the country in every zip code in America.

And that first show was moderated by Martha Roundtree.

She was there in the moderator chair until 1953.

Our legacy would not exist without her.
