who is a marine vet who saw a need for change in his own community of

Albany, Georgia and he decided to set up a school for troubled youth all on your own which is absolutely extraordinary and for people

who might be new to your story if you wouldn't mind just kind of giving us a walk-through of the

timeline of what got you started and where things are today.

Sure. Well, my name is King Randall again. I'm the founder of the Exel Boys program and the Life Preparatory

School. The program started out of my house back in 2019.

I started teaching kids how to work on cars, work on houses such as changing oil, changing

breaks.

Ceiling fans, sheet rock, you name it, even growing their own food cooking we did a plethora of these things a while I was growing up myself I was 19 when I started it

So I started you know working with these kids and during a couple summer camps that I was doing with them,

I realized that the students didn't know how to read.

That was a huge issue for me reading and writing and I was just like, well well this is probably why you guys are

getting in trouble and things like that because you guys can't read and write.

I would probably be getting in trouble at school if I can't do my work and because I

can't read and write so I understand but at that time I told those students I was going to start a school one day. I didn't know how I was going to do it or when I was going to do it but we're going to make something happen. So at that time, you know, 2019, 2020, I started a book club for kids in 2020.

As soon as I started at a couple weeks in, everything shut down as far as COVID, so I wasn't able to do the book club and I had parents you know still asking could I do something for the kids and I was just like I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing I have my own set at the time, wife at the time, you know, I'm just like, okay, yeah, I don't know how I'm supposed to do anything. I don't know what's going on with the COVID situation and you know, everybody's kind of up in the air with what's happening. So, but I did tell the parents you know at that time that I

could do something if the kids were to come live at my house. So I got about three bunk beds.

I put them in my living room. made it happen so I got six six
