The Wreaths Across America Organization has been placing wreaths at the graves of U.S. veterans

during the Christmas season for over 30 years.

What started as a quiet and chance endeavor in the early 90s

has grown into a worldwide collaboration.

Karen Worcester, Executive Director of Wreaths Across America explains the humble beginnings of the Wreaths Project

and how she and many volunteers have mobilized countless people to get involved in not only

remembering veterans after they've gone, but also

teaching America's youth about their sacrifices so their memories can live on.

Welcome to the latest episode of Meet the Experts,

and today we'll be talking with Karen Worcester. She runs wreaths across America. It is a 501c3 nonprofit organization

and it's founded to continue and expand the annual

reef laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

That began in 1992 and the organization's year-long mission

Remember Honor Teach is carried out by coordinating wreathling ceremonies in December at Arlington

and at thousands of other veterans cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and around the world actually.

We wanted to talk about wreaths across America.

They usually do a lot of their fundraising around November, December, right before the wreath

laying, but they also have a campaign in July.

But first we wanted to talk to Karen Worcester about the organization in general.
