From KQD in San Francisco, I'm Alexis Madrigal. It was not the midterm election that many expected.

At the national level, Democrats outran their poll numbers and a hypothesized red wave a la

2010 never materialized.

But our local politics don't track that red-blue pattern.

Perhaps the biggest races were for new mayors in San Jose and Oakland, but both San Francisco

and Alameda counties had district attorney's races too after the hotly contested recall

in the city earlier this year.

There were also a variety of city-level measures intended to address some of our housing and

quality of life problems.

And wow, did you see the countless supporters of car-free JFK and Golden Gate Park

celebrating their big wins in San Francisco?
